Aarogya setu is going to be used for the vaccination drove instead of Co-win. Aarogya setu is India’s contact tracing. With the help of the app the people can self-register themselves for the priority groups of the 27-crore elderly population to be vaccinated in India.

Some sort of liberty would be given to the public via this Aarogya setu app. All updates related to COVID-19 they can get it via the app. In the month of April 2020, the app was launched in India.

Dr Ram Sewak Sharma, the chairman of Empowered Group on Technology and Data Management to combat Covid-19 and member of National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration of Covid-19, said, “Yes, people will be able to register for vaccination through the Aarogya Setu app. We will also help the app generate a post-vaccination certificate.

“The current system of data population that we have will not work beyond the 3-crore captive audience. For them, we need a citizen-centric architecture. This is where people will be called when they register.

They will have options to choose when they want to be vaccinated, at what time they want to be vaccinated and where. We will need to open multiple entry points of self-registration,” Dr Ram Sewak Sharma said.

The reports says that around 16 crore people have successfully downloaded the app on their smartphones. The officials have said that this is going to be rolled out soon after the priority group (3 crore) will be vaccinated.
