We hope fans of the show love this final season as much as we do, and that it brings a satisfying conclusion to Anne’s journey.”
Walley-Beckett also tweeted her disappointment along with the fans.
“Beloved fans & friends of #AWAE, I’m sorry for the sad Netflix/CBC news today,” she wrote.
“I wish it could be different but it cannot. We have reached the end of the red Green Gables road after 3 wonderful seasons. My heart is heavy but I am so proud of this show – proud of my talented cast, crew, writers, and directors for working together so passionately to bring my vision of #annewithane to life.”
“I am grateful and humbled by this experience and I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to share this beautiful, meaningful story with all of you, my kindred spirits. I know you have loved this series as much as I have and I thank you for that forever and a day.”
The series producer Miranda de Pencier also took to Instagram to thank fans for their dedication to the show and their efforts to save it.
“After 3 incredible years, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that ANNE WITH AN E is coming to an end with Season 3. We have loved making this show for Canada and the world – telling important and emotional stories from the heart. Thank you to the extraordinary cast, crew, writers and directors who brought the show to life with commitment and passion. Thank you to our partners @cbc and @netflix for supporting our vision and believing in the show from the very beginning. And thank you to the fans for loving it all as much as we have loved making it. We will all miss this phenomenal adventure but I’m grateful that ANNE WITH AN E will always live on in all of us.”

We heard your voices loud and clear (as did CBC and Netflix) from all around the world and we are so grateful for the generous outpouring of passionate enthusiasm for our show. We couldn’t feel more honored, humbled, and deeply moved. As hard as it is to face letting go of things we love (and we’ve loved this journey of making ANNE WITH AN E as much as you have loved watching it) there is just no way to revive ANNE WITH AN E anywhere at this point. It will not happen. So now we need to love all that exists of it and hold onto the joy and hope and wonder the show brought to all of us who worked on it, and all of you who watched it. And when you have a longing for Green Gables, know that you can return to it and it will always be there for you. ANNE WITH AN E will live forever in our hearts – as will you, our beloved fans. Your Kindred Spirits, Miranda and Moira.”
