Prince Khalifa the world’s longest-serving Prime Minister dies at the age of 84. Since independence in 1971 he held the post. State government announced the information of his demise.

The role of Prince Khalifa in Bahrain’s political and economic affairs is remarkable. He has been one of the best Prime Minister. He have played a significant role which can never be forgotten.

Prince Khalifa died at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in the United States, the official Bahrain News Agency said.

The burial will take place after his remains have been transported home, and in line with coronavirus restrictions only a limited number of relatives will attend. The country will hold a week of official mourning, during which flags will be flown at half-mast. Government ministries and departments will be closed for three days.

From past five decades he has always been a controversial figure. Born on November 24, 1935, Prince Khalifa began to attend his father’s royal court at the age of seven along with his elder brother, Prince Issa. – AFP. Prince Khalifa was married and has three surviving children, sons Ali and Salman and daughter Lulwa. Another son, Mohammed, died previously.

“The late Prince Sheikh Khalifa… was a man of historic stature whose name was associated with the modern transformation of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf,” UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Twitter. He added: “He was a man of solid positions and principles.”
