At the starting facebook banned the US political ads for one week only but now it has extended to one month. It was ban just to combat misinformation as well as other abuses on its site.
Alphabet Inc`s Google also appeared to be sticking with its post-election political ad ban. “While multiple sources have projected a presidential winner, we still believe it`s important to help prevent confusion or abuse on our platform,” Facebook told advertisers in an email seen by Reuters.

It said to expect the pause to last another month though there “may be an opportunity to resume these ads sooner.” Facebook later confirmed the extension in a blog post.
Baseless claims about the election reverberated around social media this week as President Donald Trump challenged the validity of the outcome, even as state officials reported no significant irregularities and legal experts cautioned he had little chance to overturn Democratic President-elect Joe Biden`s victory.

A facebook group was created on sunday which rapidly grew. Continuously, people were joining the group from all over the world. And within 3 days the number of members increased to 400,000. This is huge number.
At the first Facebook’s director of product management Rob Leathern said on Twitter: “We’re investigating the issues of some ads being paused incorrectly, and some advertisers having trouble making changes to their campaigns.” A message circulated by Facebook to political digital strategists said a “subset of ads may show as paused” and blamed “data lags.”
Republican and Democratic digital strategists complained that the glitches were hurting campaigns at a critical moment.
