The Agra Metro Project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 7, 2020.
Narendra Modi Inaugurates Agra Metro Project
The Agra Metro Project is one of the largest metro projects to be initiated in the country. It was approved by the central government in February 2019 and after almost a year the project was inaugurated by Narendra Modi.
The inauguration programme was held virtually in the presence of the Cheif Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath accompanied by governor Anandiben Patel.
Due to the pandemic crisis, the programme had to be held virtually. Modi formally announced the commencement of the work for the project which is expected to be completed within 2025. The construction work for the project is expected to start soon.
The metro project will be a stepping stone towards infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to be quite beneficial for all the residents of the state. This Rs 8000 crore project will have two corridors that will connect tourist locations in Agra with the nearest bus stations as well as other major transportation systems.
It is also expected to boost the tourism sector in the state.
Narendra Modi Speaks On The Importance On Good Infrastructure
After inaugurating the project Prime Minister Narenda Modi delivered a brief speech on the benefits of this project. He said that the Agra Metro Project is a major route to developemnt in the country.
Because in today’s times it is very imporatnt for a nation to have great infrastrural and traposration facilities. And in a hertigae city like Agra which attracts millions of tourists every year a metro project was much needed.
Modi also added that India has been lagging behind when it comes to infrastructure development because of lack of fucds. And less initiatives are taken on arranging proper fundings for such prpjects.
He assured that all the infrastructural development projects that will be initiated by the government will have proper funding arrangements.
