On Thursday at the White House, President Donald Trump has announced a commission to promote Patriotic Education. Trump said in a speech that he is going to assign executive order to create Commission which will promote Patriotic Education. The speech that was given in the White House, was on completely political that seemed to direct at his conservative base supporters. Many experts from schools called this move ‘ A completely political’.
Because President Trump doesn’t like the idea of “The 1619 Project,” which is a New York Times project for the regeneration of America History by putting the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of their national narrative. President Trump didn’t like this idea since he thought this project reframe American history to teach our children that we were founded on the principle of oppression, not freedom. Even the threatened to withhold funding for public schools in California that joined the 1619 Project into the history educational program.
It seemed that the President didn’t like the idea of “The 1619 Project”. This led him to talk about Patriotic Education at the White House. Trump thinks that it will be a good way to teach American History to the youth of America.
All about Patriotic Education
President said that The Commission to promote Patriotic Education will be called “The 1776 Commission”. He Stated that this will encourage American educators to teach American children to know about American history.
“Youth of America will be learning with its history to love American with all of their heart and all of their souls,” Trump said. He also said that he would reclaim history, country, for citizens of every race, color, creed, and religion.
After All, the President finally focus on Education when it becomes political. As we all know U.S. school systems are left without any federal guidance to reopen in a coronavirus pandemic.
