Back in June along with TikTok The Indian Government had banned nearly sixty mobile apps.The government said that these apps are “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India,defences of India,security of state and Public order”
After PUBG made its comeback post ban, ByteDance owned TikTok also Hope’s to return to India.PUBG had been banned in the second wave of banning Chinese mobile applications.
ByteDance has over 2000 employees in India and they have not laid off any of their employees yet, infact they have started retaining employees again.
TikTok India head Nikhil Gandhi also assured the employees in an email that the company is trying it’s best to make a comeback in the country. In his mail, Gandhi said “Our clarifications have been submitted to the Government and we will continue to allay any further concerns they may have. Together with our employees, we remain dedicated to our users and creators who have found not only recognition but also new avenues of livelihood through our platform,”

“We have demonstrated unequivocal commitment to comply with the local laws, including data privacy and security requirements, and are therefore optimistic about a positive outcome. Our clarifications have been submitted to the Government and we will continue to allay any further concerns they may have. Together with our employees, we remain dedicated to our users and creators who have found not only recognition but also new avenues of livelihood through our platform,” he added
Moreover the employees were awarded with bonus salaries to cope with pandemic as well as the banthey also conducted n annual performance review cycle and helped the employees focus on multiple learning and development opportunities to upskill themselves.”our employees have been at the heart of our business and we place utmost importance on our employees personal and professional well being”he said
Some reports speculate that Microsoft,Reliance and Airtel might acquire TikTok,but there’s not confirmation.
Tiktok was one of the most used app and had high numbers of users in India.Soon after Tiktok was Instagram had introduced reels in india to acquire Tiktok user base. While PUBG has been successful to make a comeback in india in a short time after the ban by introducing new India Friendly updates Tiktok too hopes to adopt a similar approach and relaunch in India.
TikTok was bannedIndia along with apps like WeChat,UC Browser,Shein etc.
