A termination report is generally issued when a member is on active duty or for at least 90 consecutive days of active duty. The segregation report includes information normally required to verify military service with respect to benefits, retirement, employment and membership in veterans` organizations. The information displayed on the disconnection report may include: The termination form issued in recent years is Form DD 214, Certificate of Termination or Discharge from Active Service. Prior to January 1, 1950, several similar forms were used by the military services, including WD AGO 53, WD AGO 55, WD AGO 53-55, NAVPERS 553, NAVMC 78PD and NAVCG 553. Detailed information on the Veteran`s involvement in military battles and skirmishes is NOT included in the file. In November 2007, NARA opened 6.3 million OMPF of former military personnel serving in the United States Army (including the Army Air Corps and Army Air Forces), Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. In September 2009, on the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the United States Air Force, NARA took over the Air Force`s first block of files. The Master Personnel Record Group (MPerRGp) contains all permanent military personnel documents such as Form DD 214, Certificate of Release or Release from Active Service, Form DD 4, Enlistment or Re-Enlistment Agreement – United States Armed Forces Oides of Office, Special Orders, Performance Reports, etc. and is managed electronically in the Automated Case Management System (ARMS). To delete erroneous documents from your Military Personnel Record (ARMS/PRDA), please contact the HQ PCRA using “Send Us an Email” or call myPers-TFSC and provide information, problem type, form, document and/or item number. Additional information on the contents of military service and personnel records: As part of the initial transfer, the records of 1.2 million veterans, who served in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, opened to the public in July 2005. In addition, 200 FPMOs of “persons of extraordinary importance” (PIP files) – such as presidents, members of Congress and the Supreme Court; famous military leaders; decorated heroes; Talk show; and other cultural figures who served in the military were also made available to the public for the first time (see below for more information).

The preferred method of requesting documents from NPRC is to fax your application using Standard Form 180 with the following information: name, social security number and service number (if applicable), date of birth, current email and postal address, day phone number, service data, place of delivery, year of document requested, and documents requested. The National Archives National Personal Archives Centre (NPRC) maintains records of individual military service for former soldiers that are no longer compulsory. Included are the files of veterans who have been fully released (with no remaining reserve commitments) or who are retired or deceased. Records are generally forwarded to the NPRC within six months of these events. The NPRC does not have a registry of members who are still in active or inactive reserves or in the National Guard. As part of the initial transmission of files, a selection of approximately 200 files of persons of exceptional importance who died ten years or more ago were made available to the public. Additional records of eligible individuals have been added (and will continue to be added) when transfer agreements are entered into with the respective military service departments.
